Most people struggle to remember the time they last jumped rope. It was probably way back when during recess in the second grade, chanting rhymes to the tick of plastic on the asphalt as the rope spun around and around.

Though it was likely recalled as being a great amount of fun, it was also tiring; a legitimate workout. That being said, jumping rope is not just for kids anymore. Adults can do it too to switch up a monotonous workout routine. It can burn a huge amount of calories, stimulate weight loss and simultaneously increase cardiovascular and total-body strength. Also, according to Peter Schulman, MD, in an article named "Skip Rope, Not Your Workout", written by Leanna Skarnulis for WebMD, jumping rope may have less impact on the body than jogging if it is done correctly.

While both toning and trimming, it engages the use of one's arms, abdominals and legs to spin the rope, jump over the rope and stay balanced during the process.
